Where Did Man Go Wrong?

I am usually baffled when people blame and resent God for every evil thing happening in their lives or around the world, even in their relationships. They cannot reconcile the good, loving and saving God they have heard about with the seemingly nonchalant, complacent God. It is just unthinkable and wicked for Him to sit back there in His heavenly glory, with all that power, and do nothing about the evil and chaos in the world. Instead, it feels like mankind has had to take up that responsibility to promote peace and make the world a better place. As true as this looks, it is a lie! The truth is that God has done/is doing nothing wrong at all. The guilty party here is man. Man (the male man and the female man) were the ones who did wrong.

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

Genesis 2:16-17(AMPC)

5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good (suitable, pleasant) for food and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave some also to her husband, and he ate.

7 Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves apronlike girdles.

Genesis 3:5-7(AMPC)

22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man has become like one of Us [the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit], to know [how to distinguish between] good and evil and blessing and calamity; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever—

23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.

Genesis 3:22-23(AMPC)

The moment man disobeyed God, it was game up! Remember, He created man in His image and likeness; meaning that man has a free will to choose and decide what he/she wants to do. Despite the instructions God had given them, they chose to disobey thereby opening up the path that mankind has found itself in: a world consisting of both good and evil. Sadly, their disobedience brought about a curse. This curse is why we have the male man behave the way he does, and the female man behave the way she does. As a result, relationships between both sexes/gender became skewed and messed up. Same thing went for every single thing that was on the earth; everything became skewed and messed up. From that day on, both evil and good multiplied upon the face of the earth such that we now have a world full of so much evil.

16 To the woman He said, I will greatly multiply your grief and your suffering in pregnancy and the pangs of childbearing; with spasms of distress you will bring forth children. Yet your desire and craving will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.

Genesis 3:16(AMPC)

Now can you see why men behave the way they do and women act the way they do in relationships? It was the curse because it was not so in the beginning! Such negative attitudes in relationships where as a woman you feel the urge to be subservient and act like a slave to your husband is because of the fallen state of man. The same goes for the man as well; the urge to lord over a woman and treat her as a slave came from the curse. Even though this was specific to the “husband” and “wife” relationship, this has extended into the sexes/gender in general such that even as a single lady, you tend to accept the idea of men lording things over you and the men generally can’t help the urge to act like overlords over the ladies around them.

These attitudes are what have prevailed from the time of Adam till now. It is why the world has adapted and reinvented itself to make women feel less than the man. It is a systematic offshoot of what had started from the fall of man. Mankind cannot help but act this way because we were born under the curse. I repeat, it was not so in the beginning. If you do not go back into the word to see God’s original intention in relationships and marriage, there is every tendency for you not to get the very best out of God’s plan and purposes for that institution. This is one of the reasons why I do not personally subscribe to how we have brought a separation between gender roles and attitudes. The teachings out there continually emphasize coping with the fallen state of the male man and the female man. It rarely shows you how you can live above this state.

In our next topic, I would be delving into “Finding Your Way Out” of this fallen state in your relationship and marriage. I believe wholeheartedly that there is more to be enjoyed in your relationship and marriage because everything God created and instituted in the beginning was good, there was nothing bad in it. You can tap into the deeper realm and enjoy all of that goodness if only you allow God teach you. So please, don’t miss the next episode.

Have a lovely week.
